The Motorola Atrix 4G is one of the devices at the center of the whole AT&T HSUPA situation, but a new issue has emerged that may be an even bigger annoyance for Atrix users. According to reports on Motorola's official forums, some Atrix owners are experiencing muted or muffled voice quality during calls. Moto has said that they're looking into the problem, but haven't given up any other info on the problem.
On a related note, Moto has shared the news that they've got a software update for the Atrix ready, but before they roll it out to everyone, they're asking for 1,000 beta testers to make sure everything is working smoothly. The company isn't saying what fixes and enhancements the upgrade includes, but they did mention one thing that it won't feature: HSUPA support. Any Atrix owners interested in beta testing the update have until noon EST tomorrow to sign up here.
While not everyone may notice the lack of HSUPA on their Atrix, the voice quality issues will be much more apparent to anyone that runs into them. There's no word on if a fix for the voice problems will be included in Moto's software update, but we'll be sure to let you know what is inside it when we find out.
