After the Gold Master build of iOS 4.2 was released a couple of weeks ago, many expected Apple to release the final, public build of 4.2 on November 12th, aka today. You can remove your mouse pointer from the "Check for Update" button in iTunes, iOS users, because now there are reports that the final version of iOS 4.2 has been delayed. The cause for the delay is a bug that, after a user connects to a WiFi network, prevents them from actually doing anything on the Internet. Yeah, that's just a bit of a problem. There's no word on when we can expect the new OS to finally arrive.
This news is pretty saddening, especially for those iPad owners that have been longing for multitasking and folders. Even with the "delay," I'm sure we'll be seeing iOS 4.2 arrive some time in the next couple of weeks. If you're really impatient and can't wait for Apple, the Gold Master build is floating around and ready to install on your device since you don't need a developer account to run the GM software. Just keep in mind that WiFi could become totally useless.
