Ah, the Federal Communications Commission. Our favorite organization in the government for several reasons (the Department of Agriculture is a close second), the main one being that they so often out phones ahead of their official announcements. The FCC is at it again today, giving us some information on the BlackBerry Style 9670. Sure, we've already seen leaked photos and videos of the Style in the wild several times, but now that it's passed through the FCC, that means we're that much closer to actually seeing the clamshell 'Berry made publicly available. The FCC says that there's 802.11 b/g/n WiFi on board along with dual-mode CDMA, basically confirming what we all figured, which is that the Style is heading for Sprint and/or Verizon. RIM is holding the BlackBerry DEVCON next week, so perhaps we'll see the Style unveiled alongside the mythical BlackPad?
I have a feeling that the BlackBerry Style 9670 is going to be quite a polarizing handset, which is actually not as bad a thing as it may sound. There are going to be some that love the clamshell form factor tied together with a full QWERTY keyboard, and while there will definitely be some Style haters, too, that's still press for the new 'Berry. Again, DEVCON is next week, and if I were a betting man, I would bet that we're going to be seeing the Style shown off, hopefully with some release information thrown in for good measure. What do you say, RIM?
