Motorola's DROID 2 has only be available for a little over a month, but a new rumor suggests that it may be about to ready to go the way of the dinosaur. The folks at Boy Genius Report have heard that Verizon will slowly be discontinuing the DROID 2 and will soon only offer the DROID 2 World Edition. The image above clearly shows the words "while supplies last" beneath the DROID 2, which definitely adds credence to this rumor.
If true, this news would be quite a blow to the customers who already purchased a non-global DROID 2 for $200 on contract. However, the move would make sense. After all, Verizon probably doesn't want to have two different-but-almost-exactly-the-same phones to keep track of, and Moto probably doesn't want to have to manufacture two different, extremely similar DROID 2 models. Plus, there are probably a lot of DROID 2 owners who rarely leave their home state, let alone the country. So now we ask you DROID 2 owners, and anyone else that wants to chime in: would you be upset if Verizon discontinued the DROID 2 and only sold the DROID 2 World Edition?
