Just a few days ago, we heard a rumor that Verizon would be pushing the second Android 2.2 update to the Motorola DROID that would enable users to install Adobe Flash Player 10.1 on August 24th. That date came and went without any sort of upgrade, but it turns out that the rumor wasn't too far off as Verizon has announced that DROID owners will be receiving the OTA update today. The Flash Player app will be available in the Android Market after installation of the update and will allow users to view Flash content and games on their DROID. Here's the official word from Verizon:
"Verizon Wireless has begun pushing an update today to the DROID by Motorola (introduced November 2009) that will allow customers to download Adobe Flash 10.1 via Android Market. Flash Player 10.1 provides access to millions of sites with rich content including animations, casual games, videos, rich internet applications, audio and much more.”
Considering it's been a couple of weeks since we heard anything from Verizon about the DROID's Flash-enabling update, I was beginning to wonder if what was going on. It's finally here, though, so all of you DROID owners can watch YouTube videos in the browser and play all sorts of addicting Flash games on the go. Let us know when you receive the update, won't you?
