The upcoming T-Mobile G2 promises to be a landmark device for Android and T-Mobile, similar to the G1. We already know that the G2 will be the first handset to take advantage of T-Mobile's new HSPA+ network, but a recently leaked Android 2.2 build that reportedly belongs to the G2 hints that we'll be seeing a Sense-less, vanilla Android experience on the device as well as a new, powerful processor. After examining the leaked files, famed Android user Cyanogen found references to Qualcomm's MSM7X30 chipset. The new processors have 720p video recording and playback capabilities, support for 12 megapixel cameras, new GPU support, and contain several other goodies.
There's no way of telling if any of this is the real deal just yet, but we're not far off from the rumored September 29th release date, so hopefully we'll find out shortly. The G2 is going to be an important device, though, so I see no reason why HTC and T-Mobile wouldn't want to blow everything out and include a fancy new chipset. The fact that it's running stock Android 2.2 will just be icing on the cake for purists of the platform. So, has any of this information convinced you to pick up a G2?
