A couple of days ago we saw Android 2.2 for the DROID X leak out, but the update may be disappearing shortly. Motorola has been sending out cease and desist emails to various sites in an attempt to get the leaked ROM pulled. There's no word on why Moto wants the update taken down, but various sites like My Droid World have complied with the company's request and removed the ROM. I'm sure if you search hard enough you could find the update or someone willing to give it to you, but you may just be better off waiting until Motorola pushes the official version of Froyo out.
I'm surprised to see Motorola taking such actions over a leaked ROM, but when you consider the company's previous attempts at preventing the hacking of their devices, like the whole eFuse scandal, it does make some sense. However, I'm sure that Moto has a good reason for requesting the removal of the leaked ROM. Perhaps having an unfinished build will make the updating process more difficult later down the road, like with the EVO's recent Froyo update?
