Remember that FRG22 build of Android 2.2 for the Motorola DROID that leaked recently? It's looking more and more likely that that version of Froyo will end up being the official build that will be pushed to users. Droid Life has dug up an internal Verizon document discussing the new features of the DROID update, and it specifically mentions FRG22 as the Android 2.2 build that will be used. There's still no reason as to why FRG22 is replacing FRG01B, the original Froyo update, but word is that FRG22 is fixing a bug that Verizon and Motorola missed in FRG01B.
Like I said in a previous post, it's surprising that Verizon would let a bug slip past them considering that they're know for their strict testing of devices and software. Nobody's perfect, though, and stuff like this is bound to happen from time to time. It's just nice to see Verizon reacting so quickly with a new update. There's still no word on when DROID owners can expect this update, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it pretty soon. In the mean time, you can still install the FRG01B update if you're feeling impatient.
