While the Samsung Vibrant for T-Mobile and Captivate for AT&T have both been released and the Epic 4G for Sprint coming soon, we've been left to wonder where the Verizon verison of the Galaxy S, the Fascinate, is. Thanks to the fine folks at IntoMobile, however, we can wonder no more. They have received close-up photos of the Samsung Fascinate, as well as the relatively unknown Samsung Gem. The Fascinate looks fairly similar to T-Mobile's Vibrant and packs the same internals as all of the other U.S. Galaxy S variants, such as a 4-inch AMOLED screen, 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, Android 2.1 beneath TouchWiz 3.0, and a 5 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording. Specs for the Gem are nowhere to be found just yet, but it appears to be an entry-level device running Android beneath a TouchWiz skin.
It's definitely nice to finally get some good photos of the Fascinate, and the fact that it's popping up now hopefully means that we're nearing the device's launch. Considering the Motorola DROID 2 is most likely launching on Verizon some time this month, however, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Fascinate pushed back to September. The Gem looks decent and, while it's not going to fight for the high-end Android crown, could definitely be a good fit for someone looking for a low- to mid-range Android device.
