We heard last week that Verizon and Motorola would be pushing out Android 2.2, build FRG01B, to DROIDs starting yesterday, but now some users are receiving an even newer Froyo build. A new Android 2.2 build, FRG22, leaked out this morning and is reportedly being pushed to some users right after they update to the FRG01B build. A tipster sent in the above image to our friends over at Droid Life, saying that he received notification of the 1.6 MB update after updating to the original FRG01B build, and that the newer update was said to contain a "security patch." There's been no official word from Verizon or Motorola on the matter, and the FRG22 build hasn't been spotted on Google servers just yet, but we'll keep you updated.
Considering Verizon is known to be extremely strict and thorough with their testing, I would be surprised to learn that they approved an update that contained any sort of bug or vulnerability. Still, it's entirely possible that it happened, and it's nice to see that they have reacted quickly with a fresh Froyo build. Have any of you DROID owners received the FRG22 update over the air?
