We haven't heard much about the next version of Android, codenamed Gingerbread, besides the name and a rumored Q4 release. Thanks to a leak today, however, we now know quite a bit more about the impending OS upgrade. During a Russian podcast titled "Digestive" by mobile-review's Eldar Murtazin, requirements for the OS were leaked, and Unwired View has provided a translation. Gingerbread will reportedly have the following features:
The new user interface on Android Gingerbread will reportedly make skins HTC Sense and MOTOBLUR unnecessary, as well. This all sounds great for Android, especially since they are creating new features for high-end devices but still supporting cheaper ones with a different version of the OS. However, I can't help but wonder if two versions of Android will only serve to make the current fragmentation problems even worse. What do you think of these reported Gingerbread details?
