The steady stream of employees leaving Palm after the company's acquisition by HP continues today. Jeff Finkelstein, Palm's Senior Product Manager of Multimedia, has left the company for UStream, where he will become the Director of Product Management. During his seven year stay with Palm, Finkelstein was credited with patents such as "Data Synchronization to and from removable memory on a handheld device" and "Method and apparatus for power management." Finkelstein is another name on the list of high-up employees who have left Palm recently that includes former Senior Vice President of Software and Services Mike Abbott, VP of Human Interface and User Experience Matias Duarte, Rich Dellinger, who created the webOS notification system, and Lynn Fox, the VP of Palm Public Relations.
As more and more important employees leave Palm, things are beginning to look a little worrisome for the company. While Jon Rubenstein, one of the most important, if not the most important, employees is still there, these news stories are increasingly disconcerting. Still, I'm sure that Palm will be able to find competent replacements as well as take advantage of HP's resources. Palm recently confirmed that new devices and a webOS update are coming, so hopefully those releases can breathe new life into the company.
