We've been hearing rumors of a CDMA iPhone ever since the original device's release in 2007, and today we have another rumor for you. As with all CDMA iPhone rumors, you should take this news with a grain of salt. Maybe even two, just to be safe. Digitimes is reporting today that Pegatron will begin shipping CDMA iPhones from its plant in Shanghai to Apple in Q4 of this year. This news would fit in perfectly with both Apple's September iPod event and the holiday season. However, the iPod event is just that. An iPod event. It would be strange to see Apple announce a CDMA iPhone (most likely for Verizon) at an event for iPods. Perhaps they could create an event just for that announcement, though. I would be surprised to see Verizon ink a deal with Apple considering how close they've been with Google and Android lately. Still, Verizon would be likely to sell a ton of iPhones made for its network, so maybe that would be enough for them to turn their back on Google. Just keep in mind that the CDMA iPhone is still a rumor, and it will continue to be a rumor until we hear something directly from Steve Jobs himself.
