So after a crazy night on the town, you wake up the next morning only to realize that you've lost your iPhone. Hopefully you're a subscriber to Apple's MobileMe service! If so, you can take advantage of their new Find My iPhone app for use on iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches. Since you obviously can't use this app if your iPhone is lost, you need another iDevice or a friend with one that you can steal. You could always use Find My iPhone on the MobileMe site, but that's boring. This is an app! Find My iPhone allows users to track down their lost iPhone and either remotely lock or completely wipe it. The application is available now for MobileMe users with devices running iOS 3.1.3 or higher.
It's great to see Apple making native applications for MobileMe users, but it would be even better to see Apple make the service free of charge. Several of the features are available for free from companies like Microsoft and Google, and a no cost version of MobileMe would add another bullet to their device feature lists and help them compete against their opponents in the mobile space.
