Verizon set up shop in a place called Sicilia's Pizzeria in Boston to show off their LTE network to a few of their customers, and it seems like they got some fantastic feedback. They're reporting speeds of up to 5-12 Mbps downlink and 2-5 Mbps uplink, and everyone seems to love it. That is much faster than what we're used to, but holds nothing against TeliaSonera with their 30 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up.

I cannot wait for LTE to hit the market here in the US. I'm not too terribly worried about phones with 4G capabilities yet; 3G is plenty enough for me at the moment. As for mobile broadband, LTE comes with a lot more than 3G can offer at its very best. The only drawback to what we may see with LTE and Verizon is possibly losing an arm and a leg and surrendering our first born to pay for it (we call them Big Red for a reason), and limited availability as it is being rolled out nationwide. Let's just pray they don't put an outlandishly low usage cap on LTE.
