We have compiled 10 of our favorite Android apps to hit the Play Store during the month of August 2017. Without further ado, let’s get started.
The first app we have for you is called Hurry countdown for birthday or concert. This app will create beautiful widgets with timers that count down the days, minutes, and seconds for an upcoming event. Whether it’s a party, a holiday, or an upcoming concert, you can use this app to alert you of its arrival in a beautiful manner. You can customize the size of the widgets with variations to suit your homescreen.
Adapticons is an app designed to help you create stylish icons that match your homescreen. You can create icons with one equal shape and style across all of your apps, use icon packs to bring special graphics to your icons, make icons match your device theme with a few clicks, use icon packs in launchers from Google and Samsung, and much more. So you’ll see a bunch of different shapes you can choose from. You can set the position, size, rotation, and shape color. This app will definitely require some of your time to sit down and customize all of your apps. But if you have the patience and you care a lot about the looks of your smartphone, I definitely recommend Adapticons.
Voletarium: Sky Explorers is a fun fantasy game of sorts with an emphasis on flying. You can design your own flying machines, explore foreign countries, collect new parts for your flying machines, experience different add-ons like wings, boosters, and bodies; and play with your friends as well. You add in the high resolution 3D graphics and easy-to-use controls and you’re really destined to have a good time.
Google Amp is a project that allows web pages to load faster on a mobile device. It’s a great new feature to Android but sometimes it can break pages like comments and sections. DeAMPify will do exactly what the name implies and it will de-amp your links and will also make sure your original links load on your device. All you have to do is set DeAMPify as your default handler when you click on an amp link.
ArchWalls is one of the latest and greatest wallpaper apps to hit the Play Store. The app is designed with Google’s Material Design language and features several different exclusive wallpapers to choose from with new wallpapers added every single week. If you like what you see, you should download this app and probably download the wallpaper that you like.
Street Hunt is a very unusual app but don’t dismiss it so soon. Basically, the app will require you to choose a distance that you want to travel to and it will spit out a secret destination that you have to find. As you start walking around in real life outside, the app will tell you if you’re getting closer or moving further away. It’s a little bit of a funky, kind of unusual app but it’s pretty neat because it helps you get to know the environment around you, your neighborhood, and it also helps you get some exercise.
3Box is a puzzle game with one simple task: create a line by matching the block with one touch. It’s like a speed run variation of Tetris and it gets pretty challenging.
Cornea is an app that suggests edits to your photos and gives your photos a score based off how popular they will become. Naturally, an app like this is not going to work flawlessly but it’s neat to run a photo through this app before posting to social media to see what it suggests. You’ll see that filters will change the score. A filter may improve or decrease the popularity score. I feel pretty confident in my photographer’s eye so I kind of take these recommendations with a grain of salt. But if you feel like you need the extra set of eyes or opinion, definitely check out Cornea.
Samsung Internet Browser Beta has been updated to support Android 5.0 and above, so that’s pretty much most devices in circulation today. In my opinion, it’s hard to really beat Google Chrome. But if you’re looking for a new browser to try, this might be the one. This app features content blockers to help keep a clean web browsing experience and has a tab/swipe feeds list that lets you swipe back and forth to switch between tabs. There’s a quick menu and high contrast mode for the visually impaired. It supports the new web payments API, allows you to view 360 videos via the browser, and much more.
Pianista is a rhythm game that brings me back to the days of Guitar Hero and Rockband, those were good times. The only difference is that this music is classical. So you’re basically playing piano songs but the controls are very fluid and the game is just a lot of fun. Of course, you can spend some additional money and buy different songs and whatnot. But if you like rhythm games, I highly recommend Pianista.
With that last one, those are ten of our favorite Android apps to be released and/or updated during the month of August 2017.
