Having been on both sides of the Apple iOS/Android fence I have to say that the Samsung Galaxy S III is the BEST PHONE I'VE EVER OWNED.
There's not much to say about it that hasn't already been said, but I do have to add that the battery life that I've been seeing has been well over 12 hrs per day... and just into the low 20% range at that time. There have been a few days in the past couple of weeks that have exceeded 20hrs. as well (meaning I put the phone down before bed and woke up to a usable phone). VERY IMPRESSIVE. Granted I'm smart about how I use the phone. I'm on WiFi when I can and turn off radios when not needed or not in use (ie. Blue Tooth, GPS, Wifi when out 'n about). I'm on the phone quite a bit for work and travel and had planned on picking up an extended 4300 mAh battery to compliment the stock 2100 mAh battery for travel days, but so far... it doesn't seem to be required. I may just grab a 2nd stock battery and call it a day. Since it's a breeze to remove the back cover and swap out the battery, why increase the form factor with the extended one?
And speaking of form factor... how can such a large phone feel so slim? I barely notice it in my pocket and yet it dwarfs the new iPhone 5 with a big beautiful AMOLED display. Ok, it doesn't have the iPhone 5's pixel density, but seriously? Can ANYONE honestly tell? Not unless you're a professional in this space. 300+ pixels are certainly retina-enough for anyone. videos on the 1280x720 (HD) screen look great while on the go. Ok, I'd opt for watching full movies on the iPad if I had to, but I'm not complaining with a Galaxy SIII in my pocket.
I'm of the opinion that while the Apple iTunes ecosystem is a wonderful way to manage all music/movies/apps/etc, Android's Google Play store does a fine job with all the apps. There hasn't been many apps (if any at all) that I need and haven't been able to find there. Plus the addition of widgets on the multiple screens make managing my info quite easy... Word of Warning: don't overdo the widgets, they'll drain the battery.... keep it to the ones required.
All in all... if the ratings for this phone went to a 10.... my score would go to 11.
Coming from a greatly outdated iPhone 4 this phone was a God-send. My biggest worry was app support but it took less than an hour to find and install suitable replacements for over 30 apps.
Using the beautiful display makes everything I do on this beast a pleasure and I call it a beast for its insane processing power. The phone handles everything I throw at it without even breaking a sweat. No freezes, no lag just perfect. The speakers on this thing are incredible and not just in terms of loudness. It's absolutely great watching movies and playing games with this. The big screen makes a huge difference on those fronts.
Web browsing is snappy and again the big screen makes the whole experience much better than any other phone on the market. The screen is also very bright making it perfectly legible even on a sunny day.
Battery life is incredible. With moderate usage I can get 2 days worth of battery easily. Samsung's own tweaks to the core Android OS are pleasantly welcome. The S-Pen and accompanying software significantly boosts productivity, and my favourite thing of all is the true multi-tasking capabilities. You won't find anything like it except on a fully fledged PC. Having two apps open at the same time, side by side makes a surprisingly huge difference when using this phone. There is plenty of screen real estate to accommodate two apps and the processor handles both running at the same time easily. Browsing the web whilst watching videos simultaneously is great.
Dropped the phone once from head height (about 6ft) onto wooden floor and its survived without even a scratch.
The only problem I had with it was the lack of Flash, but sideloading an apk from the guys at XDA was easy.
I cannot recommend this phone enough it is damn near flawless.
I love the phone a lot. It has rightfully the correct amount of battery power which is sufficient for me. A great display and Form factor. The Design is so comfy in my hands. All the best, premium and also bad apps play the best on my Galaxy S3. I call it a simply superb piece of Innovation. Cheers !!!
The HTC EVO LTE is has everything the Iphone has in speed, power and performance with all the customization features that make android great. Also has a lot of features that the iphone does not have like NFC. It goes head to head with the iphone 5 which is not easy to do. The EVO LTE is a more complete phone then the GS3 that just has a lot of lame gimmicks inside of a plastic body. The trump cards for the EVO is that it hasn't even received its Jelly bean update. which will boost this phone over the top and also the future ability to use the upcoming digital voice service from sprint. The screen has been proven to have a higher quality over the overly bright GS3... and until you find another phone with a kickstand this phone wins the cool feature conversation. HTC has always been the leader in android UI's and it keeps getting better and cleaner with every update. The best part of the EVO LTE is that its a great phone and its going to get even better in the future.
This phone looks great in it's sleek white look and packing a super amoled display!!!!!!
i like it thoo but now i'm using google nexus and iphone 4s and blackberry 9900 so i can actually compare it to google nexus and also samsung customer services are so bad in asia country so well i prefer iphone and blackberry
It has a great display. It has a great battery life. It has a great design. It is everything that a person could want for.
I love the detailed software that comes bundled with this wonderful device. It is very hard to criticise against this device, however a higher resolution screen might be the cure for a DPI that is lower than 300, that said, the display is still great! I'm loving the minimal bezel.
One other point, the capacitive buttons should work with the S-pen in the next version.
I have used the Samsung Galaxy S3 for a while and the iPhone always been a great phone but I wanted a bigger displayed the 4 inch was perfect, and the performance on IOS has always been amazing, the S3 wasn't slow, but you would not get 100% lag free experience that you get on IOS, the design has always been a problem with Samsung and the S3 was the last straw when I noticed the back would scratch easy, the build quality of the iPhone is just amazing and Iconic, no company has been able to make something so premium.
The 1.3 GHz A6 processer is blazing the and the big 4-inch retina display is simply beautiful.
Love this phone... It doesn't take a genius like Samsung says to compare this phone with anything else. iPhone 5 is the same OS and got bored with it and went back to Android. Not saying iPhone is bad I just lean more towards Android since S3 has a bigger screen, able to take pics while recording a video and watch my videos while checking facebook or other social media sites.!
Great screen, mutlitouch, spen, i love all
After having an iPhone for 4 years, the GS3 is head and shoulders better especially since the screen is SO much larger and yet the phone itself is thin and FAST. Touch Wiz is very cool and there are SO many features on this phone that the iPhone doesn't have it's just silly.
the features are the better than iphone 5. recommended for people who wants more in a smartphone..
