If you can get past their generally bad customer service, Tracfone is reliable and won't cost you a lot per month. Even if you use your cellphone A LOT they have monthly plans that are a lot cheaper than the big carriers. So, you get the reliability of the big carriers without the high monthly charge. You don't have to put up with Tracfone's el cheapo phones. If you have an unlocked CDMA phone (Verizon or Sprint), you can bring it with you. But, it will probably take Tracefone five business days to get the SIM card to you. And, if you have an iPhone, they'll probably screw up and send you a standard/micro SIM instead of the Nano that iPhones use so it'll take at least another five business days to get the correct one to you. Yes, their customer service is THAT bad and they appear to be very low-tech. You can get an unlocked Verizon Galaxy S3 for $150 or an iPhone 5S from $300 on ebay. You have to decide whether you want to pay $45 per month for a Verizon prepaid plan for Verizon's customer service or pay much less with Tracfone and it's lousy customer service. Personally, I prefer Tracfone's prices and since they use Verizon's network, the service itself is just as good. Also, you carryover minutes with Tracfone and get no carryover at all from Verizon. Currently, I have something like 48 hours saved up with Tracfone and my plan won't expire for a year so I pay nothing for a year. Their lousy customer service is just something to endure. Once you get past it, you're fine.
Just dumped Verizon. I got tired of being a loyal 8 year customer paying about 170 for 2 lines and watching TV ads offering 4 lines for a $100 to everyone and anyone. Why didn't I get a call saying 'hey loyal customer we are going to lower your rate'? I researched Cricket for a couple of weeks and made the switch last week. Store and reps were very helpful and the port over process worked with no issues. Data was copied over with no issues however there were a couple of contacts that didn't make it. No biggie. I have plenty of 'bars' and everything works as well as when I was with the big V. The biggest reason to try Cricket is there are NO contracts. I can cancel anytime and I like being able to shop and save. I'm not paying for a massive marketing campaign. All I want to do is make phone calls, send a txt, read the web now and then. I'm saving $80 a month for the same service!!
battery is here and there but get me home with almost 5 hour of on screen time 13 hours but next year just go up on process or ram and 3200 mah so one can get 6 and a half on screen and perfect of its back to lg
One of my phones with AT&T was off contract a few months ago so I decided why not try this Defense Mobile service. It's prepaid without contracts so there was really no risk. I ended up being very surprised by the service I got! I was expecting it to be just another prepaid phone company. Turns out this a company that's competing with the Big Dogs (ATT, VZ, T-mo etc) but at the price of Cricket! I have the same exact coverage I used to have, better service and pay a fraction of the price. I am going to pay the early termination fees on my other lines because I just don't want to deal with AT&T anymore and I save enough here to make up for it. Plus my kids think its so cool to have it say "DEFENSE" or "MARINES" on their phones instead of "AT&T" (I do too...). I switched from ATT to Defense Mobile back in January and have had a great experience so far. I pay about half of what I paid for on ATT, with the same exact coverage and more LTE data. I love the mission of the company and cannot get over the quality of their customer service. I try not to call customer service as much as I can with other companies (spending hours talking to a call center in India is not a great use of my time). With Defense Mobile, I actually enjoy talking to the reps! They are all Veterans and are eager to help in any way they can - which is really refreshing. If you're hesitant about Defense Mobile, don't be. They are the real deal and are offering a level of service that extremely rare in this industry.
Boost provides affordable voice and data service and if you shop around you can get a great phone for a good price (EBAY buy new). Go Moto G best value in android class. Moto G uses 3G but I don't need LTE speed 3G speed does just fine. I save a few bucks by not using the LTE network. Seldom if ever do I have dropped call. 3G data works great in Seattle and surrounding areas. I have two family members on boost and all is good.
This phone just obliterates the competition. The build quality is so superior to the horrible plastic LGs and other ghetto devices. The software is a lot smoother too. No resets or black screens. Camera is awesome. I'd like to see better battery life but hey, what else is new?
I love the phone its beautiful but I did find it quite easy to scuff up the aluminum, which was kind of a downer because it's a beautiful phone. Everything that is supposed to work on the phone works fantastically , don't have lap top? doesn't matter the size and sound of this phone makes it more than capable of streaming movies , enjoyably which can't be said for all the flags ships out. The battery life is a little less than what I expected but, with great reviews of the up coming update it's hopeful to change. The camera does need a little bit of play to focus, mind you the trade off for the speakers is worth it believe me ( might not even be a trade off with the new update) . If you want a phone for social media, and pictures this may not be the phone for you, but if you want a phone that is pretty much a complete entertainment hub, then this is the one for you.
This phone is awesome and one of the best phones out right now. Love the sound and build. The customization of sense 7 is top of the line. I'm not understanding why it doesn't get the kudos it deserves but if you are looking for a great smartphone get this.
My Wife and I have been with Tracfone for over 15+ years. This was my first Android and I realized I didn't understand nothing about it. I will agree with most of the comments concerning Customer Service it can seem very poor at times. Remember this is a "Cheap Carrier". Once you get that all worked out you have a nice basic android. This Phone has always worked perfect for my Wife and I. Some massive changes to my phone have been made it is a true custom device. You can tweak these phones and have features that only come with the "High End Devices". Oh!!! I almost forgot it's "Free" and very easy to figure out. Once you figure out how to ""Root"" this Phone you can customize it to the Max. You are only limited by your own imagination and the modules(50+)that are available for your device which is running 4.1.2 JellyBean. You can put a 32GB SDcard in this phone which I did and make sure you get the Series '10' Super Ultra 32GB Card. It will cost more but will be worth it when you are looking for speed while using your device. First off ""Root"" this phone then D/L SuperUser SU. Then D/L Root Checker it will tell you if the device has "Root". I used TowelRoot <--(Look up on YouTube) it's very simple and you don't need a PC. Go to the Xposed Module Site and D/L Xposed Module Installer <--(Look up on YouTube) once that is done you have access to all the Modules that will work for your device. Go to the Xposed Module Repository and have fun customizing your device. XDA Developers Web Site has so much information about Android and anything you can think of concerning "Root" and they are very friendly and helpful. PS.. I am a Senior Citizen 6 Months ago I didn't even know what a Android was much less how to use it. If I can do this you can too. "Rooting Voids Warranty" This LG L39C Tracfone runs like it has just been given 36 Shots of Expresso right in its Left Ventricle. (Good Luck)
Just ported over from virgin mobile and so far I'm pleased. I took the offer for the free after rebate Nokia 530 and the flat 35$ a month after auto pay plan. I plan on upgrading phones at the end of the year when new Windows 10 phones come out as there should be lots of options with AT&T's selection of phones that can also be used on Crickets service since they are owned by AT&T and used there Cell towers. After my phone arrived by UPS it was a snap to set up online. I called customer service to change my account pin number for personal preference and it was no problem. Customer service was outsourced to country outside the US and the Agent seemed to be reading from a script for everything but she was pleasant enough, easy to understand, and handled my request as needed. So far I am pleased with Cricket. My signal and coverage has improved and I will save a few dollars a month with the flat 35$ a month plan. Let's start with the memory, have the 16GB model, where at my Nexus this always has been more than sufficient at an iPhone it's to little leading to uninstalling apps. The phone it self is of good quality and if you have a Nexus easy to get used to. Though test show it might be a little slower than the Galaxy S6 I doubt that, great device working well. If I had to chose again would by it without hesitation. No doubt like using it a lot.
I was a back and forth (iPhone to Android flagship) kinda guy for a couple of years. All of a sudden, I got tired or bored with buying phones every few months, and I was ready to settle down. I richly enjoyed the various tools, and the bells and whistles on the Android flagships (for a little while at least when I was a tinkerer), but for the most part, my every day phone usage became fairly subdued and content-oriented. So, hardware-wise, considering what I valued (and with the larger iPhone 6 Plus release) I began to consider the iPhone to be on par with Android flagships like the Samsung Galaxies. The thing that had given Android handsets the slight hardware edge over the past few years for me, they're starting to phase out (replaceable batteries and SD card slots). Ultimately, it was the promise of Apple Pay expansion that got me to cross back over to permanent iPhone usage...plus, I also have both a Mac and iPad now, and it made sense to get a simplified, synchronized platform experience going. Apple's latest iOS versions have also leveled the playing field over the past couple of years as well. Additionally, in this era of surveillance on citizens, I became more convinced of the Apple security approach than those of the collective Android manufacturers. iPhone is still not perfect. My biggest gripe is with apps like the Music app. I used Power Amp on Android, and nothing beats it on any mobile platform. What's so hard about getting missing album art and offering a 10-band graphic EQ? How the company that revolutionized the mp3 player has fallen so far behind in music app software, i'll never understand. The iPhone music app is comparably horrible. Also, Apple has the annoying practice of limiting options like not allowing the setting of Google Maps as the default map app. Lastly, I've accepted that bugs are a natural part of software with any platform. At least I know that iOS updates will be more timely than manufacturer and carrier constrained updates for Android, and that it will usually address anything that i'm experiencing. Overall rating i'll give the iPhone 6 Plus is a 4/5...it's the same rating that i've given top Android handsets in the past.
The LG L39C was my first Android. PrePaid running 4.1.2 OS. I have added so many tweaks to this phone I don't know where to begin. First off "Root" this device. Once Rooted you can customize your L39C the way you like. Explore (Xposed Modules) and have fun tweaking your phone. Check YouTube for Tutorials on both "Rooting" and "Xposed Modules". Good Luck
Having owned almost every incarnation of the Samsung Galaxy series, I was convinced that Samsung made the best Android devices. It was only when my wife and I upgraded to Sony Xperia Z3 devices that I realised that other manufacturers can make good devices too! I love the built quality, features, performance, and the peace of mind that the device will still work when I accidentally dropped in the bath!
The 640 should have been launched earlier, I think. Anyways, after buying this phone, I think that it’s a good move from Microsoft and does pretty much everything which one needs from a phone. I was looking for a phone which assists me in performing my job as a Sales guy more intuitively and it has not failed me. I can edit and create business presentations anytime and anywhere like without worrying about how it will look. I was surprised with the quality of the PPT created. Best thing is that, I saved the PPT on the OneDrive and accessed it on my laptop without having to attach the phone with a USB cable. I am also happy with the Office 365 subscription and the in-built apps that come on the phone. Battery is also something which you would love on this phone and its power to multitask is quite impressive too. Not much of a camera fan, but my wife says that it does a good job in that section as well. So all in all, I give this phone thumbs up and declare it as a good value for money.
The Lumia 640 XL is the best money I have ever spent on buying a phone. The phone not only looks good but also performs smoothly. I love the fact that all Lumia phones come with in-built Microsoft services. In this case, the phone also comes with an Office 365 subscription for a year. I was able to create a PPT on my way to Office when it was a time crunch and had to close a report for a client just like I would have done it on a desktop or a laptop. I also loved the camera on the phone and the exclusive photography apps like the Lumia Moments and the Storyteller. I can do much more than simply click pictures with my Lumia 640 XL. The phone’s quad-core processor is pretty fast and lets you multitask pretty smoothly. Gaming on the large screen of the app is also delight. You would love to play the NFS underground. The phone’s battery is also good. Even after using it heavily, it easily lasts for one day. Another plus point on all Windows phones. Overall, the phone’s a great bet and I would recommend to all working people and students as well.
We have been using Tracfone for years and I don't understand how Tracfone is more expensive than ANY contracted service. It has cost my wife and I very little to use Tracfone compared to Verizon and we have been able to use the service all over the US without any problem. As for customer service, the phone reps have been very kind; you just have to be patient with them. Yes, I have had some difficulty understanding some at times but nothing that can't be overcome with a little patience. If you call up and start yelling at them you won't be very successful. I've noticed that with customer service you have to realize these are people who are trying to HELP you and they're not your enemy. Most of the time it's something YOU failed to do or something technical and not their fault. You might get a bad phone occasionally but most of the time everything works. I could be wrong because I haven't used a lot of different carriers but I'd like someone to show me how Tracfone is more expensive than any major carrier.
Cricket, which is owned by AT&T, is pretty much the best price for the AT&T coverage it offers. It doesn't have the best customer service (which isn't really a surprise since it is owned by AT&T), but for $35/month for unlimited talk, text and 2.5GB of data, I can overlook the bad customer service because, hopefully, I won't be dealing with them too often. With that said, I have 2 pieces of advice for those looking to switch to Cricket: 1.) DON'T fall for the Rebate and 2.) Take advantage of the $25 credit referrals. 1.) Don't get lured into their "free" phones! I (and many others you can read about online) have never received the rebate, even after hours of talking to reps on the phone and online. If that didn't take up enough time, the time and energy to keep remembering to check online to see your rebate's progress just isn't worth it. It's much better to just bring your own device and insert their sim. 2.) Also, if you’re planning to or just joined Cricket, make sure to take advantage of the FREE $25 credit!: https://mycricket.sparkrefer.com/4atZNFW. If you use a referral within your first month of service Cricket will give the new customer and the referrer $25 in credit! (This has been the only promo in Cricket that I have found to work lol.) So, Cricket's customer service isn't anything to rave about, but for a simple, affordable monthly plan, Cricket can't be beat!
Defense Mobile is a new no contract wireless provider that only serves veterans and military families. Their plans are not the cheapest but for the money you get a lot more than other lower grade pre-paid carriers. They have unlimited talk & Text plans with 4g LTE data. I waited for a while to get visual voicemail but now that have it and so the experience is 100% like AT&T but I save about 50% off of what my old bill used to be AND I get additional stuff! free email account byname@armymobile.com (was kin of a pain to set up) but with free 25GB of storage. An app called Milsource which is really helpful when it comes to hunting for veteran benefits, I found out my state gives me a property tax credit that I didn't know about $$$!! and I got their debit master card called Milicash and its a great debit card and got me an additional 10% off my phone bill for paying my monthly bill with it and I guess it gets you cash back on other purchases and military discounts. Overall their customer service is a 10 out of 10 and I like that they give back to military charities, they send a nice email out talking about their giving which is a nice touch. I recommended them to about 5 or 6 fiends who are also now customers. I really like this company and want to see them do well.
