Google’s OnHub router promises to make home networking simple, and part of that effort is by giving users a companion app to easily set up and control their device. Now that app is officially available.
Google On is available for both Android and iOS. The companion app will help you set up your OnHub router with audio tone pairing, change its settings, share its password with friends, and diagnose any problems that might arise. It can also show all of the devices that are currently connected to your OnHub and let you prioritize bandwidth to a particular device if you’re doing something that needs a speedy connection, like online gaming.
The Google On app itself is attractively designed with a blue, green, and white color scheme and some material design elements, like a hamburger menu and a floating action button.
In order to use the Google On, you’ll need an OnHub router as well as an Android device on OS version 4.0.3 or higher, or an iOS device running OS version 7.0 or higher.
As of this writing, Google’s OnHub router appears to be out of stock at retailers like Amazon and Walmart as well as Google’s own online store. There’s no word on when it might be restocked, but if you’ve already got one on the way or you plan on picking one up when it’s available again, you can prepare by downloading the Google On app.
