UPDATE: Verizon has confirmed that the LG G2's Lollipop update is underway and going out in phases.
Your time has come, Verizon LG G2 owners.
Verizon has posted an official support document that details the Android 5.0 update for its version of the LG G2. The update will bump the Verizon LG G2 to software version VS98039A and it’ll include the following tweaks:
INTERFACE
- Overall GUI look has been updated following G3 model and reflecting Lollipop style.
- Flat graphic design not only gives simple look but also makes the interface fairly easy to use.

NOTIFICATIONS
Unlocked Screen
- G2 Lollipop Notification panel only requires a single swipe to display “Notifications” and “Quick Settings” at once.
- Swipe upward on the notification panel will only dismiss the Quick Settings, resulting in displaying the notification section.
Locked Screen
- G2 Lollipop OS displays notification messages on the lock screen.
- While set to Swipe lock, tapping “More” section or swiping down will display all the notifications.
- While set to secured-lock (Pattern, PIN or Password), user needs to unlock the device to see the details of each notification.

HIDING NOTIFICATIONS
- The LG G3 L OS version can be configured via the Settings menu to “Show all notifications”, “Hide sensitive only” or “Hide all notifications” so that Notifications on the Lock Screen can be all displayed, selectively displayed or not displayed at all.
- If you set the device to a secure lock screen setting (e.g., Pattern Lock), the device will offer the Lock Screen Notification options as shown below.
- In Lollipop OS, user can set options on how notification messages are to be displayed on Lock screen: Upon changing from non-secure screen lock to any of secure screen lock setting, device offers a chance to set the lock screen notification option before exiting out the screen lock selection screen. User can also set the options under the Settings > Sound & notification > Lock screen.
- “Hide sensitive only” option is not available while the device is set to either None or Swipe screen lock.
FOCUS
- Tapped notification has an animation of enlarging effect
- When “Show all notifications” is set, tapping “More” section or swiping down the notification cards will expand the notification list on top of the Lock screen.
- If “Hide sensitive only” is set, user has to first unlock to see the whole list of notifications.
SCREEN PINNING
- “Screen Pinning” feature can be found in Recent app. Screen pinning locks the device to use only a single app, preventing the device from launching an other apps until it is unpinned by an user.
- Touch and hold the Back and Recent buttons at the same time will unpin the app.
- Back navigation button will continue to work while the app is pinned but Home and
- Recent buttons will not work until the app is unpinned.
HOME TOUCH BUTTONS
- G2 Lollipop OS Home touch buttons’ design changed to Android Lollipop style.
- Recent button will be inserted between Home and Menu buttons after OS upgrade, user can rearrange the button combinations.
SETTINGS
- The Settings are now searchable. “Search” in the Settings allows an user to search the Settings page by looking through the names and description of settings listing.
- “Avoid bad Wi-Fi connections” is added under Wi-Fi settings to enable device to use the mobile network whenever the connected Wi-Fi network has no internet connection.
- Prompt “No Wi-Fi Internet connection” pop up to alert users upon detecting connected Wi-Fi network does not have a working internet connection.
FLOATING ACTION BUTTONS
- Floating action button is added in some of the main applications to promote the key action such as adding or composing new item.
- Floating Action Buttons can be found in the Clock, Contacts, Email, Messaging, and Music applications.
Verizon hasn’t made any announcements about when the update will begin rolling out to consumers, but now that the official details are live on its site, I’d expect that Verizon LG G2 owners ought to start seeing Lollipop in the coming days.
