It looks like Google Drive just became more useful.
Google has announced that Google Drive can now back up your photos and videos, just like they’ve been going into Google+ Photos. Now that they’re in Google Drive, though, they can easily be found right alongside all of your other files in the cloud.
The feature will be rolling out to the Android, iOS, and web versions of Google Drive in the coming weeks. You’ll be able to find your photos by tapping the Google Photos section of the Google Drive sidebar.
Google notes that Google+ Photos will still be available for storing your photos. The addition of Google Drive means that you can now have your photos automatically backed up with all of your other files in Drive, just as you’ve had in services like Dropbox and OneDrive for a while now. Hooray to Google for finally enabling automatic photo backup to Google Drive.
