The Motorola DROID Turbo, the newest member of Verizon’s DROID family, officially launched last week in three different flavors: Metallic Black, Metallic Red and Ballistic Nylon Black. Those aren’t the only versions of the DROID Turbo that are being released, though, as Big Red has now revealed a fourth variant.
The Motorola DROID Turbo Employee Edition can now be seen on Verizon’s official store. The device has the same specs as the regular DROID Turbo, but it looks like the Employee Edition has a different Kevlar texture on its backside. It’s also got the words “Limited Edition” tattooed beneath the DROID brand on its rear as well as a serial number printed around its camera ring.
Verizon’s DROID Turbo Employee Edition is priced at $99.99 with a two-year contract, $20.83 per month with Verizon Edge and $499.99 without a commitment. To compare, the regular DROID Turbo starts at $199.99 with a two-year contract, $24.99 on Verizon Edge and $599.99 without a contract. So the Employee Edition is a full $100 cheaper than the model the public gets.
Unfortunately, the DROID Turbo Employee Edition can’t be purchased online, which isn’t too surprising since you need to be an employee to buy one. That’s a bummer because I think it’s the best-looking DROID Turbo of the bunch, and I’m a sucker for anything that’s a limited edition too. Time to start making friends with my neighborhood Verizon reps!
What do you think of this new DROID Turbo Employee Edition? Would you buy one if you had the chance?
