It’s a new month, and that means that it’s time to check in on Google’s Android distribution numbers once again.
Google has posted new Android platform distribution stats on its developer site, revealing that Android 4.4 KitKat had a 30.2 percent share of all Android devices that access the Play Store during the 7-day period that ending on November 3. To compare, KitKat had a 24.5 percent share the last time that numbers were reported.
Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean finished at 50.9 percent for November, which is a drop from 53.8 percent in September. Finally, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich claimed an 8.5 percent share this month.
Android 2.3 Gingerbread ended the November survey period with a 9.8 percent share of devices, which is down from 11.4 percent in September. Android 2.2 Froyo fell as well, dropping from 0.7 percent in September to 0.6 percent in November.
All in all, there’s nothing terribly surprising to be found here. It’s good to see KitKat continuing to grow while the older versions of Android shrink, though. Now we have to wait for December to roll around so that we can learn how Android 5.0 Lollipop performs out of the gate.
