For the month of October, the HTC One retained the first place spot on PhoneDog’s Official Smartphone Rankings for a seventh month, fending off other popular smartphones. Though it secured the first place spot, it did so narrowly, with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 nipping at its heels. In the month known for Thanksgiving and Black Friday, can the HTC One retain its narrow lead on the charts?

For a seventh month, the HTC One topped the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice charts, receiving 1,865 reader votes and 150 expert points. HTC’s flagship Android smartphone has received positive marks for its metal exterior and wide availability in the United States. In addition to being available on the four nationwide U.S. carriers, it offers an impressive set of specifications and software bonuses such as HTC BlinkFeed and HTC Zoe.
In second place on the People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice charts, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, with 1,208 reader votes and 147 expert points. Packing a 5.7-inch 1080p HD display and a 13-megapixel camera, the Note 3 offers a wealth of new software features and an improved S Pen for content creation. Moving into third place on the People’s Choice chart, the LG G2 with 331 votes. On the Expert’s Choice chart, the Apple iPhone 5s landed in third place with 143 points.
