The Pixel 4a is expected to launch this month, and it looks like a Google exec may have just teased the device.
Rick Osterloh, Google's SVP of Devices and Services, posted a screenshot to Twitter today showing his Earth bade on Fitbit. The image may not seem like much at first, but when you examine it closer you'll notice that the time and notifications in the status bar have been pushed over to the right and that there's a blank spot on the far left of the status bar.
The likely reason that those icons are pushed to the right is because there's a hole-punch camera in that blank space to the left. And as we've seen in leaked images and videos, the Pixel 4a has a hole-punch camera in the upper left corner of its screen, and there's no other Pixel phone so far with a hole-punch camera in that spot.
Also of note is that Osterloh is Google's hardware chief, and so you'd think he'd probably be using a Pixel 4a for testing if we're getting close to its public reveal.
Rumors have suggested that the Pixel 4a could launch on May 22 at a price of $399. It'll reportedly include a 5.81-inch 2340x1080 OLED display, 12.2MP rear camera with OIS and EIS — which just got an early review — and an 8MP selfie cam. Also rumored to be packed inside the new Pixel is an octa-core Snapdragon 730 processor, 6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage, and a 3080mAh battery. A 3.5mm headphone jack and fingerprint reader are said to be included as well.
