After revealing two months ago that WWDC 2020 would feature an "entirely new online format", Apple has now confirmed exactly when this year's event will take place.
Apple's virtual Worldwide Developers Conference will kick off on June 22. The online event will take place in the Apple Developer app and on the Apple Developer website, and it'll be free for all developers.
Additional WWDC20 program information, such as keynote and Platforms State of the Union details, session and lab schedules, and more, will be announced in June.
WWDC is typically held in June, and Apple is sticking with that this year, but the 2020 edition of WWDC is going to be quite a bit later in the month than recent years. Of course, that's not as big of a deal as it might normally be since this year's event is all virtual and so no one has to scramble to buy flights and hotels for a physical event. Plus, an event later in June gives Apple more time to plan out and prepare for its new online format for WWDC.
While WWDC is a developer-focused conference, there's normally some information announced there that's interesting to us non-developer folks, such as new iOS and iPadOS features. We'll have to wait and see if Apple makes any big iOS announcements with this new virtual WWDC format but it's definitely possible that Apple will make some news, so stay tuned and we'll keep you up-to-date.
