There's no shortage of gaming phones available on the market, but that isn't stopping Lenovo from trying its hand at making a gaming phone. And a new leak shows that it'll have some unique features to help it stand out.
The Lenovo Legion is a gaming phone that the company has been teasing in recent months but hasn't been officially revealed yet. A leak from XDA-Developers has revealed that it'll have a gaming focused design that includes a side-mounted pop-up camera mechanism.
We've seen quite a few phones launch with a pop-up camera as a way to avoid a hole-punch or notch on the display. Those mechanisms typically pop up from the top of the phone, though. The Legion's will pop out from the side, likely so that you can use it for streaming yourself while playing a game on the phone in landscape orientation.
On the other side of the Legion will be a second USB-C port. There will also be a USB-C port on the bottom of the phone like you'd expect, but this second side-mounted USB-C port will allow you to comfortably charge the Legion while you're gaming without the cable getting in the way.
The third gaming-focused design feature of the Legion is focused on the rear cameras. Typically we see rear cameras located near the top or in the top corner of a phone's backside, but with Lenovo's upcoming phone, the rear cameras are located near the center of the phone's rear. This way your fingers won't cover the cameras and get them all smudgy when you're gaming.
Like many other gaming phones, the Legion is likely to have a very aggressive design. There's a sort of 3D textured look on both sides of the Lenovo Legion's backside along with "Legion" branding as well as the words "Stylish Outside" and "Savage Inside" printed on the phone's rear.
Speaking of the Legion's insides, the phone is packing a Snapdragon 865 processor along with UFS 3.0 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. The display is expected to offer a 144Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2340x1080, and it's said that the Legion has "full symmetrical 65mm dual speakers" and a "3D cooling tower structure". So yeah, this is definitely a gaming phone.
Powering the Legion will be a 5000mAh battery, and Lenovo is expected to include super-fast 90W fast charging support that'll get you up to 100% in just 30 minutes.
Today's report also mentions that the Legion will have a 64MP main cam and a 16MP wide angle camera on its backside, while the selfie camera will be of the 20MP variety.
The Lenovo Legion looks like a pretty interesting device even if you've got no desire to own a gaming phone. Features like a pop-up camera mechanism and second USB-C port mounted on the sides of the phone aren't things we see often in the smartphone space, and the conbination of a 5000mAh battery and 90W fast charging is something that'd appeal to most any smartphone user.
What do you think of the Lenovo Legion? Do its side-mounted USB-C port and super-fast charging have you interested in it?
