ALLTEL Wireless Reviews See All ALLTEL Wireless News

Purchased by Verizon Wireless on January 9, 2009, Alltel Wireless is still operating on its own in certain markets per the agreement. Package plans combine Alltel wireless, home telephone, and Internet services; regional and national plans are also available, with free nationwide long distance. Most of their plans have unlimited nights/weekends, too. Their "My Circle" feature provides free calling to select numbers on any carrier's network. Check out Alltel Wireless reviews.

No Service

Posted on: October 4th, 2006 by Ann Litton

The good: They will talk to you, but offer no solutionsThe bad: The service is awfull in our area. Never a signal. Have to go 10 to 20 miles to get a signal. Have heard many excuses, but no help.Summary: Bought 2 expensive phones {over $350.00 for 2}from Alltel. No service-one answer I got was, the phones are not for rural areas. They knew where I lived when they sold me the phone. I have even offered them land to put a tower on, but got no response.

Posted on: October 4th, 2006 by Diana Weir

The good: small and light weight....Good calling areaThe bad: I sometimes hit wrong numbers because the finger pad is too small..need way to adjust the way pictures are taken Summary: I have been with Alltel for about 6 years now..I have even traveled across the USA with no trouble using this phone or service..their phone customer service reps are very helpful...and the people at the local store near my home are very nice and quick to assist in any problems I may have.

service

Posted on: October 4th, 2006 by Anonymous

The good: good serviceThe bad: only good in spotsSummary: I have really enjoyed using alltel wireless as my phone company. They must have a new tower out here or something because service is better than ever. Only through spots do I not get service. Overall, I am extrememly satisfied with alltel. (Especially since they came up with their circle of friends.)

Alltel coverage VERY spotty in Butler County

Posted on: October 4th, 2006 by L. Guy

The good: Customer services reps ALWAYS speak English! The bad: Service is VERY spotty in Butler County.Summary: We won't be renewing our contract when it expires. The coverage in Butler County is very spotty. It's great in Towanda, okay in El Dorado, and non-existant in Augusta, Douglass, Leon, Rose Hill, and some parts of Andover. It goes into roaming in many of these places, or just can't find a signal at all. We've had to switch to the National plan so we don't pay for all the roaming charges we run into.

Plus's of A Reputable Company

Posted on: September 21st, 2006 by Jim Minchow

The good: I'm truly pleased with Alltel Wireless. I've had my phone for approximately 3 months now and the service has been great. The bad: I really feel that the "hidden" charges and the 2+ year contracts should be diminished. Holding someone to such a lengthy contract is a bit ridiculous. Then to make you renew the contract each time you get a different phone is simply highway robbery. I truly believe that, if you get good service, you'll stay with that company.Summary: Alltel Wireless is a reputable company with wonderful service. However, the hidden fees and 2+ year contracts need to be reviewed!

Was A Great Thing

Posted on: September 6th, 2006 by Michael Stephens

The good: Great coverage and signalThe bad: Never had oneSummary: I had Alltel service for a year and a half (before I foolishly switched to NTelos) and enjoyed every moment of it. I even moved from Virginia to Indianapolis and enjoyed perfect coverage, even traveling back and forth, without roaming. I can't wait to get out of contract with NTelos so I can get back with Alltel!

Poor service at home

Posted on: August 27th, 2006 by Ben Silver

The good: Good rates, and good coverage throughout my city. The bad: Horrible reception near my houseSummary: I really do like my service, but the worst part about it is the fact that as soon as I turn down my street, I lose it. Throughout the rest of the city it is fine, always have 5 bars, but when I'm home I'd be lucky to get 1 or 2.

Altel

Posted on: August 23rd, 2006 by Pat Dolar

The good: The circle of friends eliminates charges for calling people you call all the time--excellent addition to serviceThe bad: Cannot use phone internationally and no method to convert for international coverage that I have foundSummary: The customer service is often not helpful. If you sign up for alerts then you are charged and their is no way to contest these charges after you cancel the alerts.Coverage is spotty in certain areas. Dropped calls happen frequently--unsure if it is the phone or the carrier. They do credit your account for dropped calls
