Today Sony announced its newest Xperia smartphone, which it's touting as having a compact and ergonomic design.
The Sony Xperia 5 II is now official. It features a 6.1-inch 2520x1080 OLED display with a tall 21:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. There are small bezels at the bottom and top of the display, with an 8MP selfie camera living in the upper bezel.
Around back is a triple camera setup with three 12MP sensors with three focal lengths: 16mm, 24mm, and 70mm. The main camera also features an f/1.7 aperture and 1/1.7" Exmor RS for mobile sensor, while the telephoto lens offers 3x optical zoom and the ultra-wide cam has a 124-degree field of view.
The Xperia 5 II also features a physical camera button on its side, which has become a trademark feature of Sony's phones.
The body of the Sony Xperia 5 II measures 2.68 inches wide and 0.31 inches deep, which Sony says makes it "tailor-made for one-handed use". It's also got a less-pronounced corner compared to the original Xperia 5 to make it more comfortable to hold.
Inside that body is a Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. There's a 4000mAh battery, too, with support for fast charging that can get you from 0 to 50% charge in 30 minutes.
There's Gorilla Glass 6 on both the front and the back of the Xperia 5 II and the entire body is IP68 water and dust resistant. A fingerprint reader lives on the side of the phone, and there's a USB-C port on the bottom for charging plus a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top.
The Sony Xperia 5 II will be available for pre-order in the US starting September 29 and will ship to customers on December 4. Pricing will be set at $950 for an unlocked model with Android 10. Customers who pre-order by November 29 will receive a gaming bundle worth more than $400 that includes a headset, 10,000mAh power bank, and 21,600 Call of Duty Mobile points.
