Today Google's got some big Pixel Buds news for owners of the truly wireless earbuds and anyone who's interested in them.
New features coming to the Pixel Buds today include a bass boost that you can adjust directly in the Pixel Buds settings plus sharing detection. This means that when you share one of your earbuds with someone else, you'll each be able to swipe on your own earbud to control its volume individually.
Also new to the Pixel Buds is Attention Alerts. With this experimental feature, the volume of your earbuds will momentarily lower if they detect there's something going on around you that may need your attention, like a dog barking or an emergency vehicle going by.
If you ever misplace your Pixel Buds, you can now use the Find My Device app to see their last known location on a map. This feature even works if the Pixel Buds are no longer connected to your Android phone.
A new transcription feature will make the Pixel Buds' translations even more useful. With the transcribe mode, translated speech will be read directly into your ear to help you better understand what's being said in conversation mode. It'll be supported for French, German, Italian, and Spanish speakers to translate English speech to start.
Google Assistant on the Pixel Buds is getting more helpful, too. You can now ask the Assistant to turn touch controls on and off if you want to avoid accidentally triggering them, and you can also ask about the battery life on your Pixel Buds by saying, "Hey Google, what's the battery on my earbuds?".
Finally, this update also includes a few bug fixes:
Google's got some news for anyone who doesn't yet own Pixel Buds but are interested in them as well. The truly wireless earbuds are launching today in three new colors in the US: Oh So Orange, Quite Mint, and Almost Black. They're now available from the Google Store for $179 each, just like the Clearly White version.
