Yesterday we learned that Google's Pixel Buds were launching in several more countries and that additional color options are coming soon. But that's not the end of the exciting Pixel Buds news for the week.
Google will release its first "feature drop" update for the Pixel Buds in August. The plans were confirmed to Forbes, with Google saying it doesn't have an exact date set yet but that it's aiming to begin pushing out the update in late August.
As for what'll be included in the update, Google doesn't yet have a full changelog to share. However, last month Google's Sandeep Waraich said that the update will fix the audio cutouts that some Pixel Buds owners have experienced. Waraich is Google's product manager for wearbles.
Since their launch, some Pixel Buds owners have had issues where their audio will cut out if the wearer is jostling their head too much or if they do something like cover their ear with their hand. Waraich says Bluetooth interference is one of the things causing these audio cutouts.
"Our next release will have a combination of new features...and then we'll also have performance improvements in terms of more stability coming into the product," Waraich also said about the upcoming Pixel Buds update.
Google has released a few "feature drop" updates for its Pixel phones that add cool new features and squash bugs, and it's exciting to hear that the Pixel Buds will be getting their own feature drop update. We're sure lots of Pixel Buds owners will be glad to hear that the audio cutout issue is being addressed, because that's a pretty big problem to have for truly wireless earbuds that you use for working out and other times when you're moving around.
Do you have Google's new Pixel Buds? If so, what do you think of them?
