After announcing new features for Android phones, Android Auto, and Android TV earlier this week, Google is now revealed some big improvements that it's got coming to Wear OS.
Google will launch a new Wear OS update this fall that it says will include CPU core improvements to make your apps start up 20% faster. An improved SysUI will bring more intuitive controls for managing different watch modes and workouts, too, and a simplified pairing process will make the onboarding process easier.
A brand new weather experience is coming to Wear OS later this year, too. Google touts that it'll make reading the weather on your wrist easier with an hourly breakdown of today's wether plus important weather alerts for your area.
Finally, some new hardware support is coming to Wear OS as well. That includes support for Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Wear 4100 and 4100+ processors, which offer up to 85% faster performance compared to the Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, as well as LTE connectivity.
These are big updates for Wear OS and they're worth getting excited about for fans of Google's smartwatch platform. Getting faster performance from quicker app start up times and newer processors is great because that means less than holding up your wrist and staring at your watch, and a simplified onboarding process can set a better tone for the entire watch-owning experience by making your first interaction smoother and and easier.
