Samsung announced several new devices today, including phones, tablets, foldables, and truly wireless earbuds. There's one more to tell you about, though, and it goes on your wrist.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is the follow-up to the original Galaxy Watch, featuring a body that's 14% thinner, 8% smaller, and 15% lighter than its predecessor, but with a larger display. The Galaxy Watch will be available in 45mm and 41mm case sizes that will have 1.4-inch 360x360 and 1.2-inch 360x360 Super AMOLED displays, respectively.
In addition to using that touchscreen to navigate the Galaxy Watch 3 software, you've also got the option of using the rotating bezel, a feature that was on the original Galaxy Watch.
A major focus of the Galaxy Watch 3 is workouts and fitness tracking. There's an optical heart rate sensor for logging your workouts, and a running analysis tool can help you improve your form. The Galaxy Watch 3 can track your sleep and give you sleep insights, too, and soon it will blood oxygen and blood pressure measuring plus electrocardiogram readings in markets where these features are authorized.
When it comes to raw specs, the Galaxy Watch 3 is powered by a dual-core Exynos 9110 processor that's paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It's got IP68 water and dust resistance and can be submerged in up to 50 meters of water for up to 10 minutes. The software is Tizen-based Wearable OS 5.5, and the batteries for the 45mm and 41mm watches come in at 340mAh and 247mAh, respectively.
All of those features are crammed into a case made with stainless steel. Samsung will also offer a premium titanium model.
The Galaxy Watch 3 is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 or higher with 1.5GB of RAM or more, as well as the iPhone 5 or later running iOS 9.0 or above.
Samsung will begin selling the Galaxy Watch 3 tomorrow, August 6, in Bluetooth and LTE models. Pricing will start at $399.99 for the Bluetooth 41mm model and $429.99 for the Bluetooth 45mm version. The LTE-enabled variants will cost $449.99 and $479.99.
