The OnePlus Nord is only launching in Europe and India, meaning those of us in the US will miss out on OnePlus's new lower-cost smartphone. Today OnePlus revealed that folks in the US won't be completely Nord-less, though.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has revealed to Wired that a Nord-branded phone will launch in the US later this year. It won't necessarily be the exact same Nord that we met last week, but it will carry the Nord name.
There's not much else we know about this new Nord, but the fact that it'll carry the Nord name suggests that it will also be an affordable alternative to OnePlus's flagship phones. OnePlus normally launches "T" versions of its flagship phones in the fall with slight spec bumps, so perhaps that's the plan for this US-bound Nord.
The OnePlus Nord is an exciting phone that packs higher-end specs like a quad camera array with 48MP main cam, 5G support, and a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, all in a package that's less than $500. Because of that, it's a bit disappointing that the Nord won't be sold in the US, but we are looking forward to seeing what kind of new device OnePlus can cook up for the US market.
