Earlier this year Motorola teased its new Edge phone, which is meant to be a more affordable version of the Edge+ flagship. And now we know exactly when you'll be able to buy one.

The Motorola Edge is available for pre-order in the US starting today, July 22. You can buy one from Motorola itself as well as Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H. The full launch for the Edge is scheduled for July 31.

As for pricing, you can pre-order the Motorola Edge and get it for the limited time price of $499.99, a full $200 off its normal cost.

Motorola has given the Edge the same 6.7-inch 2340x1080 OLED screen as the flagship Edge. That means that it's got curved edges and a 90Hz refresh rate. The non-Plus version of the Edge also gets the same in-display fingerprint sensor as the Edge+ as well as the 256GB of storage, 3.5mm headphone jack, and stereo speakers.

Moto did make a few changes to the regular Edge to help get its price down. It's got a Snapdragon 765 processor rather than an 865 like in the Edge+, half the RAM at 6GB, and a slightly-smaller-but-not-exactly-small 4500mAh battery.

The Motorola Edge also features a triple rear camera array with a 64MP main cam, a 16MP ultra wide angle camera with 117-degree field of view, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. There's a Time of Flight sensor, too, to help you grab better depth info for your portrait mode photos.

Rounding out the Edge's spec list is a 25MP selfie camera, NFC, a microSD card slot, a USB-C port for charging, and Android 10. All of those features are packed into a body that has a water repellent design.

Because the Motorola Edge+ is exclusive to Verizon, this regular Edge is a good opportunity for non-Verizon customers to get a taste of this Motorola Edge design. While it may not be quite as high-end as the Edge+, this Edge still has a solid spec list, especially at this limited time $499.99 price point. And because it's sold unlocked, you can take it with you if you switch carriers in the future.
