OnePlus is adding its Shelf feature to the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.
A OnePlus Launcher beta update to version 4.5.4 brings a "Swipe down to access OnePlus Shelf" feature. With it, you can choose to enable the OnePlus Shelf with a swipe down from your home screen to get quick access to apps like Notes, Toolbox, and Step Counter as well as your recent contacts and a Dashboard that'll show your battery level and available storage.
If you've got a OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro and your OnePlus Launcher has gotten the beta update to version 4.5.4 or later, you can enable this swipe down action by long pressing on the Launcher, tapping "Home Settings", selecting "Swipe down to access", enabling "Swipe down to access", then selecting "Shelf".
This new feature is currently only available on OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models in North America and the EU.
On previous OnePlus devices, the OnePlus Shelf was available with a swipe to the right from your home screen, replacing Google's Discover feed. The Discover feed replaced the OnePlus Shelf on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, but now OnePlus is giving owners of its current flagships the option to bring the Shelf back.
Because we've seen the OnePlus Shelf on older OnePlus phones, it's good to see OnePlus bring it back for users who liked using it in the past before moving to a OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro.
