One week after pushing out the first beta of iOS 13.5.5, Apple has released a second beta update that changes things up a bit.
iOS 13.6 beta 2 is now available to registered developers, who can grab the update over the air or by going to Apple's Developer Center (via MacRumors). Public testers should see the update in the coming days.
The folks at MacRumors found that the iOS 13.6 beta 2 release includes a new toggle that gives you more control over updates. There are now separate toggles for "Download iOS Updates" and "Install iOS Updates", letting you decide if your device will automatically download new updates over Wi-Fi and automatically install updates after they've downloaded. Your device must be charging and on Wi-Fi for an update to automatically install.
Currently, there's only one "Automatic Updates" toggle in iOS that performs the same as the new "Install iOS Updates" toggle, automatically installing a new update after it's been downloaded.
The new separate toggles will let you prevent iOS from automatically downloading a new update, giving you more control over your phone's storage space and its updates.
We previously heard that iOS 13.6 could also bring with it Apple News+ Audio. The beta includes references to that new feature, which the code describes as a way to "Listen to a quick recap of today's top stories."
Apple hasn't said when iOS 13.6 will be released to the public, but it's likely we'll see at least another one or two beta releases before the full launch.
