Recent rumors have speculated that Samsung could introduce a new smartwatch alongside the Galaxy Note 20 at an event in August, and now we may have a name for that device.
An asset that reference the "Galaxy Watch 3" have been discovered inside Samsung's Galaxy Wearable app. You can see below an image that the folks at XDA-Developers spotted inside the app, suggesting that "Galaxy Watch 3" will be the name for Samsung's next Galaxy smartwatch.
This name is notable because Samsung has never released a device named "Galaxy Watch 2". There was a Galaxy Watch Active 2 that launched last year, so it's possible that Samsung wants to avoid any confusion and will instead give the name "Galaxy Watch 3" to the Galaxy Watch successor.
Details on the Galaxy Watch 3 are still pretty light, but XDA notes that the FCC recently certified 4 different models of a new Samsung smartwatch. Two of them came in a 41mm size and 2 in a 45mm size, and it's likely that one of each of them is a Wi-Fi-only model while the other has built-in cellular connectivity.
In other upcoming Samsung device news, another image was spotted inside the Galaxy Wearable app that hints at those bean-shaped Galaxy earbuds that we heard about a couple months ago. The asset looks similar to the renders that leaked out previously, and the file is named "buds_live", suggesting that that could be the final name for the new earbuds. Other rumors have hinted at Galaxy Buds X as a possible name, too.
Reports say that Samsung is currently planning a new Galaxy Unpacked event for August 5. It'll likely be an online-only show due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and it's expected that it'll be jam-packed with new Galaxy goodness including the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+, and possibly the Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Buds X/Live that've leaked today.
