T-Mobile is now sending an update to the OnePlus 8 5G that improves its 5G support.
The update to version 10.5.8.IN55CB includes 5G support for new bands. As noted by TmoNews, T-Mobile's OnePlus 8 5G previously included support for 5G on bands 71, 41, and 5, and this update adds 5G support for bands 2 and 66 as well.
The T-Mobile 5G network is currently largely made up of 600MHz band 71 coverage but T-Mo has recently began rolling out 2.5GHz band 41 now that it's merger with Sprint has closed. While the OnePlus 8 5G already supported both those bands, owners of the device are likely still pleased to see support for a couple more 5G bands added to their device.
Also packed into this update is support for Google's Live Caption, a feature that can automatically caption media that's playing on your phone, like videos, podcasts, and audio messages. There are some general improvements and fixes in there as well.
This OnePlus 8 5G update is currently rolling out over the air, so if you've got an OP8 5G from T-Mobile you should see it hit your device sometime in the coming days. If you don't feel like waiting, you can check for it manually by launching the Settings app and tapping on "System" followed by "System update" and then "Check for update".
