Fortnite is one of the biggest video games in the world, and now OnePlus owners can play it in a way that no other mobile phone players can.
Fortnite now runs at 90 frames per second on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. OnePlus touts that its devices are the first smartphones to be able to run Fortnite at 90fps.
The one catch here is that when you enable 90fps frame rate, the overall graphics settings will default to Low (via GameSpot). So if you want more frames per second, you're going to have to give up some graphical quality to get it.
Right now it looks like the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are the only OnePlus phones getting 90fps support in Fortnite. In its announcement of today's news, OnePlus says that the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro can play Fortnite at a max of 60fps, despite the fact that devices like the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T both have 90Hz refresh rate displays.
It's impressive that Epic Games and OnePlus were able to get Fortnite running at 90fps, and considering how lots of folks love higher refresh rate smartphone displays after using them, we bet there are some people who are going to dig Fortnite at 90fps, too. The lower graphical settings is a trade-off, but the good news is that it's easy to toggle between the fps and graphical settings in the app to figure out exactly how you want the game to run.
