LG Wing reportedly in the works with a second screen that swivels

2020 is looking like it could be a year of trying different things for LG. The company is moving to a new product roadmap with the launch of the Velvet this month, and now a new leak suggests that LG is cooking up a new phone with a form factor that's pretty different from what we're used to.

LG is reportedly making a new smartphone with a second, swiveling screen. Codenamed LG Wing, this device will have a main 6.8-inch display and then a secondary 4-inch display with a 1:1 aspect ratio, reports ETNews.

This second screen is meant to help you multitask. While you're watching a video on the main screen you could be browsing the web on the secondary display, for example.

The image above is a mockup meant to show what the design of the LG Wing could look like.

Besides this second, swiveling display, the LG Wing is expected to pack a Snapdragon 700-series processor with 5G support like the LG Velvet. The Wing will also reportedly have a triple rear camera array with a 64MP main sensor. LG is said to be planning a service that'll let you customize your Wing with color and other personalization options.

LG is aiming to launch the Wing in the second half of 2020.

This wouldn't be the first time that LG launched a phone with a swiveling screen. Way back in 2007, the LG VX-9400 launched at Verizon with a screen that swiveled from portrait to landscape and revealed a keyboard underneath. The device was touted as being great for watching TV and using MediaFLO live TV broadcasts.

The LG Wing could be a way for LG to stand out in the competitive mobile market. While some device makers are turning to foldable displays to catch attention from consumers, this LG device with a second, swiveling screen will definitely be different than most every other phone on the market.
