A few days after high-quality images of the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro leaked out, the full spec lists for both upcoming flagships have followed.
While the Huawei P40 Pro (above) and P40 (below, gray) share a lot of specs, one area where they differ are their camera arrays. According to WinFuture, the Huawei P40 Pro is packing a quad rear camera setup with a 50MP camera with RYYB sensor, f/1.9 aperture, and optical image stabilization. There's a 40MP camera with RYYB sensor that'll apparently be primarily used for video but will also take ultra wide photos.
A 12MP telephoto is located on the back of the P40 Pro, too, and Huawei is reportedly working to offer 50X SuperSensing zoom without a loss of quality. A macro camera will let you snap photos from a distance of just 2.5 centimeters, and a 3D depth sensor is also said to be included.
Meanwhile, the non-Pro P40 is said to have the same 50MP main camera with RYYB sensor and f/1.9 aperture as the Pro model, the ultra wide camera is a 16MP snapper while the telephoto cam is an 8MP sensor.
Another area where the two phones differ significantly are their displays. The Huawei P40 Pro is reportedly packing a 6.58-inch 2640x1200 OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and curved sides while the regular P40 has a 6.1-inch 2340x1080 OLED screen that's flat. Both models are said to have an in-display fingerprint sensor.
We can see pill-shaped hole-punch cutouts in the upper left corner of both the P40 and P40 Pro, and in there is said to be a 32MP selfie camera plus a depth camera. The P40 Pro reportedly adds an infrared sensor for unlocking, too.
Huawei is purportedly packing an octa-core Kirin 990 CPU into both the P40 and P40 Pro and they'll both have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, though the P40 Pro is expected to have a 256GB model, too. Both phones are also slated to support nano memory cards for adding more storage. NFC, 5G, USB-C, and dual SIM slots are also expected to be included.
One final area where the P40 and P40 Pro will be different is battery size. Huawei is said to be putting a 3800mAh battery into the P40, while the P40 P40 is getting a 4200mAh battery.
Both the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro are expected to launch with an adapted AOSP version of Android 10. Because the US ban on Huawei, the P40 and P40 Pro won't come with Google apps and services, just like other recent Huawei releases.
Huawei will officially introduce the P40 and P40 Pro on March 26th. Pricing is expected to start at €799 EUR ($859 USD) for the P40 while the P40 Pro will start at €999 EUR ($1,074 USD).
