Motorola is changing things up with smartphone designs that have uncommon features. There's the Razr and its foldable screen, the upcoming Moto G Stylus and its included pen, and now a new leak shows that Motorola's got two new devices with waterfall displays.

The two new devices are said to be codenamed "racer" and "burton", and according to XDA-Developers, they've both got 6.67-inch 2340x1080 displays with 90Hz refresh rates and curved edges. As you can see in the images above of the "racer" model, there's also a hole-punch in the upper left corner of the screen.

It's said that the "racer" model will be an upper mid-range phone with a Snapdragon 765 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and 5G support. Motorola's "racer" will also reportedly have a 4660mAh battery, 48MP main camera, and the model number XT2063-3. It may be known as the Motorola One 5G 2020 when it launches.

Meanwhile, the "burton" device is more of a flagship model with a Snapdragon 865, 8/12GB of RAM, and a 5169mAh battery. The "burton" could launch at Verizon as the Motorola Edge+ with support for the carrier's 5G network, while it may be called the Motorola One 2020 outside of the U.S.

Today's report also mentions that Motorola is working on a few new apps for its edge screen phones. These include Moto Edge Assistant for customizing the edge screen to launch shortcuts when you double-tap it; a Moto Gametime app to give you tools and settings when you're gaming, like blocking incoming notifications; and Moto Audio, an app that can automatically adjust the phone's audio profile to match what you're listening to.

Waterfall displays like the one seen in these leaked photos can be a bit divisive, with some folks liking the "all screen" look and some people preferring a flat display that doesn't have the accidental touches that can come with a curved edge screen. The design and specs teased in today's leak hint that Motorola wants to stand out in 2020 with more uncommon smartphone designs and features, but we'll have to wait and see just how well Moto utilizes this waterfall screen design.

MWC 2020 is happening later this month, and so we could see these new Moto phones announced there. Stay tuned.
