Google announced its new Pixel Buds back in October, but the company hasn't said when its new truly wireless earbuds will actually launch save for a vague "spring 2020" window. This week the new Pixel Buds did take one step closer to hitting store shelves and our ears, though.
The new Pixel Buds have appeared in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) database. Spotted by 9to5Google, the Pixel Buds are sporting two model numbers — G1007 and G1008 — that it's thought could be for the buds themselves and their charging case.
"Google Pixel buds deliver rich audio, clear calls, and hands‑free help from the Google Assistant," reads the description of the new Pixel Buds in the Bluetooth SIG's database. "They are designed for your comfort, based on scans of thousands of ears. The customized, secure fit while the ambient vent keeps you open to the world around you."
The listing confirms that Google's new Pixel Buds include support for Bluetooth 5.0, too, but there aren't many other details revealed.
The new Pixel Buds can get a seal in your ear to offer better sound compared to the previous model, but they've also got a spatial vent to fight that plugged ear feeling you may get from some earbuds.
Google is also touting a feature of the new Pixel Buds called Adaptive Sound. With it, the Pixel Buds will automatically adjust the volume based on the noise of your surroundings so that you don't have to keep manually adjusting the volume. There are manual controls if you'd like to change the volume yourself, though.
The new Pixel Buds will launch this spring for $179.
