Are you liking the look of that clamshell Galaxy Fold 2 that leaked out earlier this month? If so, it may not be long before you're able to get your hands on one of your own.
Samsung's new clamshell foldable phone will launch in February, according to a report from Yonhap News Agency. Samsung is expected to hold an Unpacked event in mid-February and the foldable that's thought to be the Galaxy Fold 2 will reportedly be available "immediately" after the event.
Today's report also mentions that the clamshell Galaxy Fold 2 will have a 6.7-inch screen when unfolded and will become "nearly square" when folded up.
The Galaxy Fold 2 will reportedly come with a "mid-$1,000" price tag, which would make it slightly cheaper than the original Galaxy Fold that costs $1,980.
Foldable phones are very much young products, but this Samsung clamshell foldable could help broaden the appeal of foldables. The form factor makes it more like a flip phone that a lot of consumers have used in the past, and when unfolded, it seems to be more like a traditional flip phone. And while the "mid-$1,000" price that the Galaxy Fold 2 is rumored to carry isn't exactly cheap, it would be easier to swallow than the near-$2,000 Galaxy Fold.
