The Huawei Mate X is finally ready for launch.

Huawei has confirmed that the Mate X will launch in China on November 15th. As noted by Sina Digital, the Huawei Mate X will cost 16,999 yuan ($2,405 USD) for a model with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

When it comes to launches in other territories, Huawei isn't making any promises. "Our strategy is based on carriers’ 5G roll out in different regions. So far, Huawei has made the Huawei Mate X available in the China market on November 15," Huawei told The Verge. "A global launch plan is under review."

First announced back in June, the Mate X is Huawei's first folding screen smartphone. When folded, the front of the Huawei Mate X has a 6.6-inch 2480x1148 display and the back has a 6.38-inch 2480x892 screen. When unfolded, you get access to an 8-inch 2480x2200 OLED screen.

The Huawei Mate X is also equipped with an octa-core Kirin 980 processor, an NM card slot for adding more storage, a fingerprint reader built into the side of the phone, and a 4500mAh battery with 55W fast charging. 5G support is included as well.

Huawei originally planned to launch the Mate X in the middle of 2019, but the release was pushed back so that Huawei could further refine and improve the Mate X, perform extra testing with carriers, and work with developers to get their apps ready for the foldable phone. Now the Mate X is finally ready for primetime, and we're looking forward to getting our hands on it and trying its folding mechanism, which is different from Samsung's Galaxy Fold in that it has one big screen on the outside rather than two separate screens.
