With the recent launch of the Galaxy Note 10, some Galaxy S10 owners may be a little bummed that their device is no longer Samsung's newest flagship. Samsung is showing S10 owners some love this week, though, by giving them some features found on the new Note 10.
Samsung is now pushing out an update to the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, and S10 5G that brings several of the features introduced on the Galaxy Note 10. There are lots of new camera goodies in this update, like an expanded Night Mode that now works with the front-facing camera and enhanced Super Steady video stabilization.
Also included in the update is an AR Doodle feature that lets you add augmented reality drawings and messages to your photos, and Live Focus video recording that'll enable you to add bokeh effects to videos recorded with the front or rear cameras. There's a new video editor, too, that you can access from the Gallery app and use to trim and stitch clips, adjust playback speed, add subtitles and background music, and more.
This update adds Samsung DeX for PC, which enables you to connect your Galaxy S10 to a computer over USB and use your phone's apps in a desktop-style environment. Link to Windows is also included, enabling the Galaxy S10 to wirelessly connect to a Windows PC and view the contents of the phone, send and receive messages, and sync recent photos.
Rounding out the update is an improved version of Samsung Pass that lets you use your Galaxy S10's biometric features to log into apps and websites more quickly, and an updated Messages app with new icons for adding photos and videos for easier access to your files.
This update is now rolling out to Galaxy S10 series phones in European markets. Samsung tells us that the update will arrive in the U.S. in the coming weeks.
Overall this looks like a pretty significant update for the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, and S10 5G, bringing a few new features and improving some existing ones and giving S10 owners lots of new stuff to check out. It may not be the update to Android 10 that lots of S10 users want, but all of these Note 10 features should help to keep S10 owners busy until Android 10 does hit their phones.
