The same day that we learned that the iPhone XS and XR will soon get Apple's performance throttling for battery health, it's been revealed that the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro have a new system to help manage their batteries and performance.

Apple has posted a new support document that details the new software and hardware system to reduce the impact to performance as their batteries age (via 9to5Mac). Apple says that this new system is more advanced than its previous battery and power management systems and that it's automatic and always-on.

"iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max power needs are dynamically monitored, and performance is managed so that it can address these needs in real time," explains Apple. "The system is more advanced than previous iPhone battery and power management systems and allows your iPhone to reduce performance impacts from battery aging."

Back in late 2017, Apple caught some flak after it was discovered that the company was slowing performance on iPhones with older batteries, and the company later explained that it was doing so to prevent unexpected shutdowns from performance spikes. Now Apple includes a "Battery Health" section in iOS settings to show you the maximum capacity of your battery and whether it's operating at peak performance or if performance management has been applied. Apple also offers the option to disable this management if you want.

Now we know that Apple's newest iPhones come with performance management out of the box. Considering that the phones are brand new today, it's not likely that we're going to see any effects of the performance and battery management any time soon. Apple does caution that the battery aging on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro could still lead to effects like longer app launch times and lower frame rates, but at least anyone buying a new iPhone today knows that their new device comes with a more advanced system to reduce these performance impacts.
