Following rumors that claimed that TikTok developer ByteDance was working on its own smartphone, the news has now been confirmed.
ByteDance has confirmed that it's developing its own smartphone in partnership with Smartisan Technology. "The product was a continuation of earlier Smartisan plans, aiming to satisfy the needs of the old Smartisan user base," a ByteDance representative told Reuters.
Details of this ByteDance phone are pretty light, but odds are good that whatever this device ends up looking like, it'll run Android and come with TikTok and other ByteDance apps preloaded. The phone will probably be released in China, where ByteDance is based, and it wouldn't be a surprise if we didn't see it anywhere else.
