T-Mobile is launching its new REVVLRY and REVVLRY+ phones today, and they come with a new preinstalled app from the magenta carrier.
T-Mobile Play is a free app that includes videos from more than 60 channels, including Fox Sports, Bloomberg, and Gamespot, and genres like Kids & Family, Breaking News, Sports, Comedy, and Lifestyle. Spotted by Android Police, the T-Mobile Play app is free, but there are ads that play before each video as well as banner ads throughout the main feed.
The app will also recommend videos that it thinks you'll be interested in, and these recommendations will improve as you watch more videos.
The new T-Mobile Play app can be downloaded from Google Play, but it also comes preloaded on T-Mo's new REVVLRY and REVVLRY+ phones. And what's interesting about that is that the T-Mobile Play feed is accessed by swiping right from your home screen, exactly where Google's Discover feed is. There are tabs at the top of this screen that let you switch between your Google Discover and T-Mobile Play feeds.
T-Mo says that more phones with T-Mobile Play built-in are coming soon.
We regularly see carriers release custom apps for messaging, videos, and more, and T-Mobile Play is the latest example of that. The REVVLRY and REVVLRY+ are brand new own-brand phones from T-Mo, so it makes sense that T-Mobile would preinstall its new video app on them. It's interesting that T-Mo has gotten its T-Mobile Play feed right next to Google Discover, but hopefully REVVLRY owners can easily remove or disable the app if they don't want it next to Google's feed.
